FAQs

North & Tiran: This itinerary is suitable for a wide range of divers and experience levels, but to make the most of it we recommend PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) as the minimum certification level, allowing a maximum dive depth of 30 m. Nitrox and wreck specialties are not mandatory, but useful. A minimum number of 30 logged dives is recommended. Marine Parks (Brothers, Daedalus & Elphinstone): Because of the nature of the majority of dives on this itinerary (offshore drop-offs with potentially strong currents and challenging surface conditions), we recommend a minimum of 50 (ideally even 100 or more) logged dives, a certification level of PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent) or above, plus the PADI DEEP specialty (or equivalent), allowing a maximum dive depth of 40 m. Some of the recommended certifications can be obtained on our trips, please contact us with any questions or inquiries. If you do not have the recommended number of logged dives, again, please contact us to discuss your options. More details on dive sites are available under `Diving in the Red Sea´.
Please contact us if you are interested in chartering the whole boat or have a group of divers you would like to book in.
Please provide us with the following information: – Flight arrival & departure date & time – Flight number – Emergency contact name & phone number – Diving insurance details (provider & policy number) – Any special assistance or provisions that may be required (e.g. medical or dietary information, see below)
Up until 3 months (90 days) before your trip, you are entitled to a full refund of your payments (minus administrative fees). Up until 1 ½ months (45 days) before the trip, we will refund 50% of the full trip price. NO refunds will be given within 45 days of the trip’s departure date. If – for any reason – we cannot provide M/Y Scuba Scene for your trip, a boat of matching standards will be provided. In that case, a guide from our team will accompany you.
Passport: Please make sure that your passport is valid for at least another 6 months, counting from your departure date from Egypt. Insurances: Please make sure you hold valid travel as well as diving insurance. Fitness-to-dive: If you have any medical issues, past or recent, please make sure you carry a valid medical certificate from a diving physician to confirm your fitness to dive. In any case, you will be required to self-declare your medical fitness and sign a liability release on board.
Please make sure to purchase a visa stamp from one of the providers/banks before passing through passport control. The cost of a tourist visa is 25 US$ (March 2020). Please make sure to fill the visa entry form before passing through passport control. Look for our representative just outside the arrivals hall, holding a sign with our name & logo.
Our pricing policy and booking procedure give our guests the choice of prepaying all essentials for their diving holidays, with the exception of gratuities (see `Tipping policy…´), alcoholic beverages, and onboard merchandising. Our basic safari price includes the marine park/environmental fees mandated by local regulations. Other extras, such as the use of Nitrox for the week, any rental kit (both tech & recreational), and courses can be added during the booking process and prepaid, or alternatively be paid on board.
Onboard payments are due at the end of the trip and can be made in cash (US$, Pound Sterling, Euro or Egyptian Pounds), or by credit and debit card, as long as the amount is 25 US$ or higher. Credit card payments will have a 3% surcharge added to them, debit card payments have no surcharge added. We cannot accept American Express.
While tipping on Egyptian liveaboards is customary, it is of course entirely voluntary and should reflect your satisfaction with the service you received. Our recommendation for a one-week liveaboard is to leave a tip of 90 US$ per person for our crew. Based on a crew of around 15 (without dive guides), this would mean a tip of 1 US$ per day per crew member for each of the 6 diving days. Tips can be given in cash (US$, Euro, Pound Sterling or Egyptian pounds), or paid with your final bill by credit or debit card (see `Payment onboard…´).
Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements so that our catering for the week can be adjusted. The same for any specific drinks you might require in larger than normal quantities.
We have a basic stock of medication on board. If you should require any special items or assistance, please contact us with details well in advance of your trip, ideally before you complete your booking to ensure we can meet all our needs.
