FAQs

What is 'open-deck'?
Open-deck means, that - after receiving a briefing - buddy teams can choose their dive times and durations at this site, either for the whole day, or parts of that day. To be able to keep track of divers and insure their safety, everybody has to be very disciplined and properly communicate/document their plans and diving activities.
Meal times will be fixed (and announced), and divers can decide to attend the meals or choose this time to dive.
Who is this trip for?
All levels of diver are welcome on these trips.
As we have ‘open deck’ rules whenever possible, if you are an experienced diver you will be allowed to conduct your own dives, however there will always be options for guided dives for those that would prefer, or are relatively new to diving.
This means that if you’re a novice you’ll be well looked after, and if you are experienced you’ll be able to dive how you choose to, always within safe frameworks.
Will all the dives be off the back of the boat?
While the open-deck format naturally relies on diving off the back of the boat, there will be other options made available involving the use of the two large, comfortable & powerful ribs.
How many dives will be offered?
The open-deck does not generally change the number of dives, it simply offers more freedom in terms of when you are diving, and for how long.
So the expected number of dives will be a maximum of 21.
What is special about this trip with Duxy?
This trip will include the wrecks of Abu Nuhas, and - if requested and conditions on the day allow - the wreck of Rosalie Moeller.
On this trip as well, not only Duxy will do informative talks for the guests, but also Dr Elke Bojanowski (biologist) and Ahmed Fadel (tech instructor).
Is solo diving allowed?
Solo diving will ONLY be allowed for divers that are both qualified and equipped for it.
Solo diving courses will be available on board.
